The Bridge
This online ocean science resource center provides one-stop shopping for K-14 educators, locating and reviewing the best the web has to offer. Find background information on ocean topics, lesson plans, classroom-friendly on-line data, student and teacher opportunities, and more! Be sure to check out the Data Activities—Bridge-authored lesson plans that include hot new data sources that can spice up your science units!

ChesSIE (Chesapeake Science on the Internet for Educators)
This site holds quality Bay-related classroom resources for teachers and great Bay marine and wildlife profiles for students and learners of all ages.

The Blue Crab
Delve deep into one of the Chesapeake Bay's most special creatures, the blue crab, Callinectes sapidus.

Classroom Programs and Resources

Blue Crab Bowl - High school academic competition
High schools from across Virginia compete in this regional competition of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl. This annual event challenges students to test their knowledge and understanding of marine sciences. Co-hosted by VIMS and Old Dominion University, the Bowl takes place in February each year. Participation information and brochure are available on-line beginning in Septem07-Dec-2012bcb.

Outlook on Ocean Science 07-Dec-2012ding for the Outlook progrm has ended.  Many thanks to the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund for its past support.  New opportunities for grades 7-12 school teachers and classrooms are currently in planning.  To be on the contact list, please fill out the on-line Interest Form.
