SPECKLED TROUT
  • A speckled trout (15.50” TL) released in Plantation Creek on 10/13/95 was recaptured in northern Pamlico Sound 11/8/99 (1,487 DAL), the longest DAL for any species in the VGFTP to date.
  • 7 of 16 recaptures in 1999 continued to document residence (10-68 DAL) of small and large speckled trout (9.00-20.50” TL) at the “Hot Ditch” in winter.
  • A speckled trout (26.50” TL) tagged and released at the Hot Ditch on 12/26/98 was recaptured in the lower Potomac River on 7/28/99 (214 DAL).  This event documents long-distance movement out of the “Hot Ditch” into the Bay during the same time that speckled trout are moving into Chesapeake Bay.
