Assawoman Bay (AAWPH)

In 2001, SAV area in segment AAWPH increased to 222.43 ha, 7% more than in 2000 (207.60 ha). This segment accounted for 2.8% of SAV in the Delmarva Peninsula Coastal Bay Zone. The Tier I goal has not been established for AAWPH.

The large SAV bed off Swan Point became more dense and continued to expand in the deeper edges and just north of Swan Point (Map 166). In addition, SAV expanded north and south of Devil Island and a new SAV bed was mapped in the Assawoman Bay northwest of Devil Island (Map 166).

SAV decreased and became less dense in the western edge of the bed off Devil Island. In addition, SAV decreased off Horse Island, in the cove east of Horse Island; and north of Northside Park (Map 166).
