Lower Chester River (CHSMH)

SAV area in segment CHSMH increased from none reported in 2000 to 83.18 ha in 2001. This segment accounted for a small portion (1.7%) of the SAV in the Upper Bay Zone. The Tier I goal (1,517.81 ha) was not met for this segment.

SAV has returned to portions of the Chester River after not being observed on the 2000 photography. SAV beds were mapped on the southern shore from the Kent Island Narrows to Long Point, in Jackson and Winchester creeks, and both east and west of Winchester and Queenstown creeks (Maps 026, 033). Small SAV beds were mapped south of Belts Bar Point (Map 026).

No other SAV was observed in the Chester River off Eastern Neck Island, off of Eastern Neck, above Tilghman Creek, or west of the Kent Island Narrows (Maps 026, 033).
