In 2001, SAV area in segment JMSTF increased to 38.39 ha, 43% more than in 2000 (26.84 ha). This segment accounted for a small portion (0.42%) of SAV in the Lower Bay Zone. Since this segment was not mapped from the aerial survey prior to the establishment of the Tier I goal in 1991, no area was included in the Tier I goal for JMSTF.

New fringing SAV beds were mapped and SAV expanded in Wards, Flowerdew Hundred, and Upper Chippokes creeks (Map 126, 135, 136). There were no notable areas of decrease for JMSTF in 2001.
