Upper Patuxent River (PAXTF)

In 2001, SAV area in segment PAXTF increased to 83.04 ha, 123% more than in 2000 (37.30 ha). This segment accounted for a small portion (0.47%) of SAV in the Middle Bay Zone. The Tier I goal (5.64 ha) has been met for this segment since 1993.

On the western shore of the Patuxent River, new SAV beds were mapped below Iron Pot Landing and new small fringing beds were mapped below Kings Creek (Maps 159, 041). On the eastern shore, new SAV beds were mapped in Reed Marsh and below Kings Branch (Maps 159, 041). In addition, SAV expansion was noted on both shores (Maps 159, 041). There were no notable areas of decrease for this segment.
