In 2001, SAV are in segment RPPTF increased to 26.78 ha, 65% more than in 2000 (16.19 ha). RPPTF was flown for the first time in the history of the aerial survey in 1998. This segment accounted for a small portion (0.29%) of SAV in the Lower Bay Zone. Since this segment was not mapped from the aerial survey prior to the establishment of the Tier I goal in 1991, no area was included in the Tier I goal for RPPTF.
New SAV beds were mapped off Marsh Point (Map 200); one small bed in Green Bay (Map 200); small beds below Horse Head Point (Map 200); and in Otterburn Marsh (Map 086). In addition, SAV expanded in Drakes Marsh and Otterburn Marsh (Maps 201, 086).
There were only slight areas of decrease for this segment. These declines were noted below Horse Head Point (Map 200); and in small portions of Drakes and Otterburn marshes (Maps 201, 086).
