Southern Virginia Coastal Bays (SVCPH)

In 2001, 15.87 ha of SAV were mapped for segment SVCPH, accounting for a small portion (0.20%) of the SAV in the Delmarva Peninsula Coastal Bays Zone. This is the first time in the history of the annual survey that SAV has been mapped for this segment. The Tier I goal has not been established for SVCPH.

Successful transplant and seed broadcast efforts in 1999 by VIMS and the Virginia Resources Commission (VMRC) resulted in the production of two sparse SAV beds west of Wreck Island in South Bay and one small bed south of Jones Cove in Magothy Bay (Map 184). These were the only beds mapped for segment SVCPH.
