MAMEA
Awards
MAMEA sponsors two annual awards to
recognize outstanding efforts by marine educators in the region. One award
is presented to a classroom teacher, k-12, and the other is for an educator
in a non-traditional setting, which includes museum staff, college instructors,
and employees with government agencies. The awards are presented at MAMEA's
annual conference.
NSF Presidential Awards
Each year, after an initial selection process at the state or territorial level, a national panel of distinguished scientists, mathematicians and educators recommends teachers to receive a presidential award - one elementary and one secondary math teacher and one elementary and one secondary science teacher from each jurisdiction. Awardees each receive a $7,500 educational grant for his or her school, a presidential citation and a trip to Washington, D.C. for a series of recognition events.
Green School Awards Program
The Governor's Green School Awards Program celebrates Maryland's model environmental education efforts which combine classroom studies with the use of best management practices at schools and involve the community. These are noncompetitive awards to recognize and celebrate the achievement of schools meeting strict environmental education criteria. (Click on Green School Program in the left navigation panel).
