Checkout Procedures

1. Read the policies on the S&P web page regarding checkout/checkin, emergency contacts, PFD's, etc.  Click here.

2. Before checking out gear for the first time, get a club officer to show you what's up with the vessel in which you're interested.  He will show you where gear is stored, review checkout practices, and make sure that you are capable of using the gear safely.  Given sufficient interest, this may take the form of a group demonstration/checkout day, scheduled as needed by Scott or another club officer.

*If you plan to skipper the O'day, completion of a Coast Guard boating class is required.  Send a copy of your certificate to Paul Richardson.  Club members (or guests) without certificates may crew on these boats (Note guidelines for sailboat use on web page).  Windsurfers may be used by non-certified members only when supervised by certified members.

The Sail and Paddle Club's 20' O'Day is located in
the VIMS Boat Basin.
