Educational Field Trips
Field trips are being offered during the afternoon of Friday, October 2. Field trips are now closed except for the kayaking combined with a tour of Dogfish Head Brewery ($55/person).
As part of our Welcome Social event, we will have dinner with a cash bar followed by a presentation by Gary Kreamer, the 2007 National Marine Educators Association's Marine Educator of the Year and co-creator of the award-winning "Green Eggs and Sand" curriculum. This opening night talk will feature highlights of the speaker's decade-plus experience working with, and educating about, this amazing ancient animal, the cast of equally-intriguing human characters that have woven connections around it, and some neat life lessons he has learned along the way as a result of those interactions. In addition to assorted images and slides, selected examples of student artwork and poetry will be used to enhance the presentation.

Plenary Addresses
Conference sessions will feature plenary addresses by regionally and nationally recognized marine scientists. Each plenary address will be followed by a break-out session where participants will have facilitated brainstorm sessions on how to best use the information they learned in classrooms and programs.
Concurrent Sessions
In session presentations by educators from across the Mid-Atlantic, we wi’ll share strategies, examples and best practices for how to teach our varied audiences. If you are interested in presenting, please see the Presentation page.
MAMEA Auction
Members and MAMEA supporters are encouraged to help support Association activities by making a contribution to the Auction. This exciting annual Conference event features diverse items – large and small: aquatic-theme gifts of all kinds; teaching resources and supplies; theme baskets; gift certificates for products, services or experiences. All proceeds from auction items support conference scholarships for local educators, enabling them to attend future conferences in the region. All donors are acknowledged in the Conference program. You can fill out and submit an Auction Donation Form. Please let us know as early as possible about your donation, so we can assure your acknowledgement! |
