Mid-Atlantic Marine Education Association

MAMEA
is an organization of people whose common goal is to improve education about all aspects of marine and aquatic environments. Members come from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, the District of Columbia, and beyond. We represent many institutions, organizations and programs. MAMEA is a regional chapter of the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA).

Elections will remain open until June 8, 2012. Current members who have registered an email address with MAMEA will receive an email link to the online voting. Members without a registered email address will receive a paper ballot in the mail. If you are a current MAMEA member and have not received an email or paper ballot, please contact Ruth Gourley, NMEA Past President & Nominating Committee Chair.

Election results will be announced at our chapter meeting at the 2012 NMEA conference. They will also be sent out through email and in the next issue of Masthead

ANNUAL CONFERENCE
October 12-14, 2012 in Cambridge, Maryland
"Aquatic Conservation Science through Research and Education"
Join educators from the Mid-Atlantic region to celebrate marine education Chesapeake Bay style. The 2012 MAMEA conference will be held on the campus of the University of Maryland’s Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) Horn Point Lab on the shores of the Choptank River in Cambridge, MD.  Participants will have the opportunity to learn about all things aquatic during presentations by invited speakers, concurrent sessions and field trips. Saturday’s schedule will also allow time for conference participants to tour the Horn Point Lab facilities during their open house.  Housing options include single-sex cabins on campus or an offsite hotel. MAMEA Annual Conference Call for Presentations now open!
Do you have a good lesson, project, or field based activity that students will love? Why not share it with us! The call for presentations for the 2012 MAMEA conference will close on Friday, July 6th.  Rooms will be equipped with PC laptop computers, LCD projectors, screens and wireless internet. All you need to bring is your content on a thumb/jump drive. Submit your presentation now!

Five Conference Scholarships Available - MAMEA will offer 5 Paul Standish Scholarships to MAMEA members interested in attending the annual conference but are in need of financial assistance. The scholarshiops cover up to $300 of expenses. More info...
