Figure 3. In 1989, about 70 million m3 of sediment slid into a tributary stream of the Ok Tedi as a result of slope undercutting due channel incision caused by dumping mine waste. Although caused by mining, landslides this size and bigger appear to be fairly common in the Ok Tedi catchment.
