Seismic profiles of the mid-shelf just east of the Sepik Canyon (upper) and the mid-shelf west of the Sepik (lower). The upper profile (profile PNG-97-11) shows a thick sequence of sediment overlying several prominent reflectors. A rotational slump block to the right may indicate sediment slumping into the Sepik Canyon. The mid-shelf profile to the west (profile PNG-97-01H) shows prograding strata dipping away from the Sepik, and overlying a series of prominent reflectors cut by several reverse faults (two left arrows). Note also the presence of shallow gas (right arrow). See Sepik base map for profile locations.
